Edmund Ghareeb is one of the world’s most widely acknowledged experts on topics related to Iraq, the Middle East, our national foreign policy and America’s current relations with the Middle East. He is a regular commentator on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, NPR, ABC News, (you’ve probably seen him on Nightline) NBC, Fox TV, MSNBC and Associated Press Television.
Ghareeb was born in Lebanon, the only Arab Christian nation, the son of that country’s National Poet Laurite. His family later relocated to New England where he spent most of his youth. The author of numerous books on Arab-American relations and recent Arab history, Ghareeb is currently a professor at George Washington University at Washington, DC and occasional consultant to the Tunisian and United Emeritus embassies as well as various political action groups. Additionally, he is often called upon for comment and analysis by the BBC, Egypt TV, Algerian TV and Abu-Dhabi TV as well as TV and Radio Deutsche Welle, Russia Today, (Arabic and English), France 24 and Radio Mediterranean International.
Dr. Ghareeb will be visiting friends in the Iowa Great Lakes region over the weekend and looks forward to sharing an evening of his experienced insight into the current American-Arab situation as well as answering questions regarding life and activity in the Middle East.
