Education Policies

Reservation

Register by stopping by the Pearson Lakes Art Center at 2201 Hwy 71, Okoboji, IA 51355 or calling us at 712-332-7013. All classes and workshops must be reserved prior to the registration date with cash, check or credit card, no exceptions.

Cancellation

The Pearson Lakes Art Center reserves the right to cancel any program if minimum enrollment is not reached, in which case full refunds will be made to the participants. Cancellations must be made for workshops prior to the registration deadline or 24 hours prior to the class if no registration deadline is listed. The deadline is necessary to allow PLAC to gather adequate supplies. Patrons who do not cancel prior to the listed deadline date or the 24 hours in advance will be charged in full to their credit card, and they may use the class cost as a charitable contribution. A transfer to another class held during the same season is acceptable in lieu of a refund. If a transfer is made to a higher priced class, the participant will need to pay the difference. If a transfer is made to a lower priced class, no refund will be made for the difference.

Inclement Weather

The Pearson Lakes Art Center may cancel classes due to inclement weather. In that instance, the PLAC Facebook page will be updated with any cancellations as well as phone calls to participants or participant’s guardians.

Photo/Video

The Pearson Lakes Art Center classes are often photographed or videoed for publicity purposes such as, but not limited to, brochures, advertising, and other promotional material. Permission to be included in publicity is implied by enrollment. Please contact our box office if you do not wish to be included in publicity.

Supplies

The Pearson Lakes Art Center provides all materials necessary for youth and family classes. Adult courses will state if materials are provided or if a materials list is available online or at our box office.

Special Circumstances

The Pearson Lakes Art Center seeks to include children and adults of all abilities in our classes, workshops, and programs. If you or your child has a disability or special need, call our Education Director to have a confidential discussion about suitability of a program and possible accommodations. Parents/Guardians – please notify the box office about any medical conditions, such as allergies, that might affect your child’s participation in classes or programs at the start of each season.

Youth Drop-Off and Pick-Up

During the school year, busing is available from Spirit Lake and Okoboji schools for our after school arts programs. Parents/Guardians of students 17 and younger must pick up their child by coming into the Pearson Lakes Art Center to check them out of class. If students are to go home with another guardian, please call or send a note with the student. This is for the safety of each student. No exceptions.
