How do I register?

  • Call our Box Office at 712-332-7013 and ask to sign your child up for the specific class title or sessions. Over the phone we can take your basic information along with a payment to reserve your child’s place in the class.
  • Stop in to the Pearson Lakes Art Center at 2201 Hwy 71, Okoboji, IA 51355 and our BoxOffice can sign you up. Payment is needed at the time of registration at least 1 week prior to the start of the class.

Ever wonder how Pigasso met Mottisse or how one dot could lead to a whole painting? Join PLAC Staff Select Thursdays in a variety of PLAC galleries as they take us on a reading journey that connects books to the world of art. Relate the stories to the art by learning how to see new things, imaginary games, and other fun interactions inside the gallery. Adult must be present with children ages 1 – 5 years.

Fashion History Through the Decades – Grades 9 – 12

Join instructor Maxine Cummings, a fashion designer who has designed dresses for Lilly Pulitzer and studied at Parsons the New School for Design in New York City. Her specializations include silhouette design, embellishments, lace pattern making, garment construction and fit. Each week students will study the fashion of a decade through understanding the historical events influencing and influenced by the corresponding Fashion History or that decade. We will look at the designers of each decade and how they contributed to Fashion History. This course will also cover the use of visual imagery that has preserved Fashion History. Fashion Illustration chronicles of the 20th Century. We will study the elements of Fashion Illustration that Characterizes each decade and students have the option to stay for a studio hour where they can create their own templates to illustrate or work with a template. Students will illustrate three looks either placed in a time period or create a collection incorporating trends of the collection.

Family Motto Painting on Vintage Hangers

Do you have a family or group motto, quote, saying, blessing, rules, proverb, or phrase? Put it on canvas with acrylic paint and collaged design, add your phrase on additional canvas to create a personalized motto that hangs on vintage hangers!





Ceramic Mini Pumpkins

Learn how to hand build your very own ceramic pumpkin. Use forms, slip and score, and your hands to create a decoration that can last a lifetime! Pumpkins will be approximately

Own School of Fish Printmaking

November 18   |   10 am – 3 pm

Explore the world of printmaking by creating your own unique school of fish artwork! Each member of the group will design their own fish by carving out of linoleum blocks or styrofoam (for the little ones), spread, roll, and print a lake or ocean full of everyone’s fish to create a keepsake 11” x 14” artwork!
